Titanium is particularly known for its excellent biocompatibility with the human body. There are three main categories :
– Martensitic stainless steels: 420A, 420B, Cronidur 30, etc.
– Precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steels: 17-4 PH, Custom 455, etc.
– Austenitic stainless steels: 304L, 316L, 316Ti, etc.
These three categories of stainless steel meet the ASTM F899 standard, among others.
Plastic, in particular polyacetal copolymer, known by the name of POM C, is used for example for tool sleeves or as moulds for making implantable parts for the dental sector.
